System freezes on running lspci

My system freezes randomly when trying to report a bug or install something. It turns out whenever something tries to get system information, it crashes. I am able to reproduce it every time by running lspci. This happened in 17.10 and continues to occur even after upgrade to 18.04. Any clues on how to debug and fix the problem?
When frozen, both mouse and keyboard dose not respond. Only option is to force shutdown.
