My Huawei USB modem has been working well on Ubuntu 17.10 since installation But suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason. lsusb shows that it is a modem and reconfiguring it shows the provider settings are correct. The GUI manager recognises it but it will not connect to my provider. It appears to try and connect but drops out after a second or so. The modem works in a windows laptop? My provider suggests reinstalling the drivers but I am not certain how to do this. The modem is a Huawei CE0682. It has worked well until recently. The WI-FI works fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated please.

This problem has been resolved. When I said the modem works in a windows laptop, I had asked a friend to test it for me. He only got the the provider identification and assumed it was OK which it was not. A new modem solved my problem. Sorry for giving you incorrect information.
