Use of USB Ubuntu with Android Studio 3.1

I am using Windows 7 on a 2.6GHz machine with E5300 processor, wanting to use Android Studio for development, but can't get it to work with the emulator or USB devices. A forum user suggested Ubuntu, can I use Ubuntu from a USB device and install Android Studio for it to use
