Will the current Ubuntu Mate (designed for the RPi 3B) currently run on the Raspberry Pi 3B+? [closed]

After faffing forever trying to get Ubuntu (of any kind) to work on this Raspberry Pi 3B+ it appears that there are no Ubuntu 'flavours' made for the B+ as distinguished from the ordinary Pi3.
There are several insinuations to this effect but nothing definitive. something along the lines of "will not work with Pi3 B+" would be sufficient.
Can anybody confirm that this is in fact the case, and if so, whether there are any plans to make a version that works? I'm quite fond of Ubuntu and would dearly like it to power a Raspberry Pi. I would hate to think I have wasted my money on the wrong model.
Thanks for your time, hope you can help.

Did you look at wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/RaspberryPi/RaspberryPi3? This sounds promising: raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=208538. All the best!

It's not unusual for new hardware to have components that won't play with Ubuntu. My sound card, wireless card, UEFI firmware and CPU all hate Ubuntu, but support has improved little by little over time. If you can get involved (even just by submitting bug reports), you'll be helping that process for your device.

Hi, I created images of Ubuntu Mate 16.04 that are ready for the Pi 3B+. Here are the torrents: downloads.mijnscore.be/Ubuntu%20Mate%20SD.torrent for SD cards and downloads.mijnscore.be/Ubuntu%20Mate%20USB.torrent for USB drives

Hi, the SD image really works, thank you, @Max! I'll try to help seeding it for a while. How did you create it? Previously I got Ubuntu Mate to boot to the welcome screen by copying the boot partition from a working Raspbian card, but the USB mouse and keyboard didn't work.
