I have installed ubuntu 17.10.1. I can only sign in to ubuntu using xorg, otherwise I get stuck in a login loop. Once signed in, I can only access applications like Terminal. The settings menu wont open and then throws out an error. If I use Ubuntu too much, the screen freezes, or makes a blur. This also happens when I try to open libre office. I am quite new to Linux. Is it the graphics drivers that cause this problem? Because when I type sudo ubuntu-drivers devices in the terminal, it tells me something about a graphics driver. Then, when I type sudo apt-get intall it shows some installing, but then says "0 upgraded out of 148", or something like that. I have tried this command with internet connection, but it doesn't seem to change anything. My father had the same problem with Red Hat Linux about ten years ago. He said that he made sure that he had the right graphics drivers, so somehow this problem might not be related to graphics drivers?
Computer specs
â¢4gb ram
â¢Nvidia graphics card, 128mb memory
â¢AMD Athlon 64 x2 (1.9 GHZ)
Any help would be hugely appreciated!
