I just installed Ubuntu 18.04 (Beta 2) on my 2-in-1 laptop, an Asus T300 Chi. From the start there's been an issue with the screens orientation: The screen is rotated clockwise 90 degrees from the actual orientation, meaning the desktop is laying on the side. I have tried rotating the screen in different directions, and the change in orientation is registered, but the screen display is consistently rotated 90 degrees.

I searched the Internet for reports of a similar issue, and found that it can be worked around by tilting the screen on it's side and then lock the display rotation. This is a workaround, however, and I'd like to find a solution that doesn't stop automatic screen orientation from working.

I was wondering if there is a way to edit the configuration, so that the display will align correctly with screen orientation? Any input is appreciated.

  • Doesn't Settings → Devices → Displays help? On my system (17.10, though) there's a Orientation setting.
