I keep the /home directory in a different disk such that all my personal files are preserved when I upgrade/install newer version.
I also have several folders that I change icons using my own images (usually inside the folder). For that I do the standard Nautilus "right click the folder> properties> click the folder icon > select the image" (which is in the folder).
However, whenever I reinstall ubuntu (and I do it whenever a new version is released) all folder custom icons are reset to the standard image. I believe the folder custom information should be stored in the user's folder but is seems the folder properties (particularly the folder icon) is not.
My questions are: where are the folder properties stored in the system? How do I preserve the folder's custom icons while installing a new version? If is is not in the /home (which I preserve between versions" it should be somewhere else in the root "/" folder.
Thanks
