I am trying to send multiple DNS queries serially using the dig utility on Ubuntu16.04. I have a file that contains the list of websites.

dig -f <file> +short

From tcpdump I see that dig is reusing the same source port for every dns request. How do I randomize the source port?

The man page for dig and other google search results say that dig randomizes source port by default. But I don't see that happening.

  • Please don't use screenshots for terminal output. Instead, paste the text into the question editor, select that text, and press the button to format it properly.
