No console output in kernel version 4.14.28

I install Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial on my platform (Intel x86_64) and upgrade kernel to version 4.14.28 (http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.14.28/) . I find no console output even if I add console=ttyS0 or earlycon=uart8250,io,$Addr,115200n8 in the cmdline . I think the absense of CONFIG_SERIAL_EARLYCON & CONFIG_SERIAL_8250_CONSOLE may be the reason , why disabling both in kernel config and how to get console output in this version?
