I am using the following method to connect to a certain network via terminal.

1. Wifi working perfectly fine.

enter image description here

2. Change /etc/network/interfaces from:

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

to

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
#
auto wlp3s0
iface wlp3s0 inet static
address 192.168.42.150
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.42.10
wpa-essid EmRtkGps3:43:73
wpa-psk emlidreach

3. Run the following commands:
$ sudo service network-manager restart
$ sudo ifup wlp3s0

4. Now my wifi looks like this and I can't get it back to default
unless I change /etc/network/interfaces back to default and RESTART my computer.

enter image description here

How to get my wifi to look like first image without restarting my computer?
