I have seen that this question has been asked many times but I couldn't find a solution to this.

I have an external hard disk LaciE (externally powered) which is not detected on my laptop with ubuntu but it is flawlessly detected on a Windows laptop.

I tried to switch the hard disk to different usb ports but nothing worked.

The hard disk shows up in lsusb, this is the output:

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 8087:8000 Intel Corp.

The hard disk is the 3rd line.

But I don't see any trace of the hard disk in GParted for example.

If I run dmesg | tail -n 20 shortly after connecting the hard disk I get

Could you help me to understand what is the problem?

I have a similar issue in Ubuntu 16. Seems these Lacie disks generate tons of such issues... My disk works fine in Windows, but gives a "NTFS signature missing".
