18.04 Bluetooth Crashing

Hello I have a Dell Precision 5520 (purchased February, 2018) with the Qualcomm Atheros QCA6174 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter running Ubuntu 18.04.



I am having trouble with the bluetooth connection between the laptop and my Logitech MX Master wireless mouse. The computer will lose connection with the mouse multiple times per day. When this happens, the bluetooth icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen disappears. Checking the Bluetooth system preference panel, Bluetooth is turned off. I can toggle the switch to "on" but bluetooth remains off. Neither restarting the computer nor power cycling the computer bring bluetooth back. $ sudo service bluetooth restart also doesn't work. The only way I have found to renable bluetooth is:



  1. reboot

  2. disable bluetooth in BIOS

  3. reboot

  4. enable bluetooth in BIOS

  5. reboot

Also, I was running Ubuntu 16.04 until this past Friday. I experienced this problem under 16.04 but it happened much less frequently (once every couple weeks or so). I upgraded to 18.04 ahead of 18.04.1 in hopes that a newer kernel/driver would work better with my brand new hardware. Now, under 18.04, bluetooth is crashing multiple times per day.

Hello I have a Dell Precision 5520 (purchased February, 2018) with the Qualcomm Atheros QCA6174 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter running Ubuntu 18.04.



I am having trouble with the bluetooth connection between the laptop and my Logitech MX Master wireless mouse. The computer will lose connection with the mouse multiple times per day. When this happens, the bluetooth icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen disappears. Checking the Bluetooth system preference panel, Bluetooth is turned off. I can toggle the switch to "on" but bluetooth remains off. Neither restarting the computer nor power cycling the computer bring bluetooth back. $ sudo service bluetooth restart also doesn't work. The only way I have found to renable bluetooth is:



  1. reboot

  2. disable bluetooth in BIOS

  3. reboot

  4. enable bluetooth in BIOS

  5. reboot

Also, I was running Ubuntu 16.04 until this past Friday. I experienced this problem under 16.04 but it happened much less frequently (once every couple weeks or so). I upgraded to 18.04 ahead of 18.04.1 in hopes that a newer kernel/driver would work better with my brand new hardware. Now, under 18.04, bluetooth is crashing multiple times per day.

Hello I have a Dell Precision 5520 (purchased February, 2018) with the Qualcomm Atheros QCA6174 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter running Ubuntu 18.04.



I am having trouble with the bluetooth connection between the laptop and my Logitech MX Master wireless mouse. The computer will lose connection with the mouse multiple times per day. When this happens, the bluetooth icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen disappears. Checking the Bluetooth system preference panel, Bluetooth is turned off. I can toggle the switch to "on" but bluetooth remains off. Neither restarting the computer nor power cycling the computer bring bluetooth back. $ sudo service bluetooth restart also doesn't work. The only way I have found to renable bluetooth is:



  1. reboot

  2. disable bluetooth in BIOS

  3. reboot

  4. enable bluetooth in BIOS

  5. reboot

Also, I was running Ubuntu 16.04 until this past Friday. I experienced this problem under 16.04 but it happened much less frequently (once every couple weeks or so). I upgraded to 18.04 ahead of 18.04.1 in hopes that a newer kernel/driver would work better with my brand new hardware. Now, under 18.04, bluetooth is crashing multiple times per day.

i had on ubuntu 16.04 sometimes bluetooth problems, which i solved with an other app



sudo apt install blueman


so i got my blutooth connection problems mostly solved, and the handling of multiple blutooth adapters is configurable.



so i am no hardware specialist.

    i had on ubuntu 16.04 sometimes bluetooth problems, which i solved with an other app



    sudo apt install blueman


    so i got my blutooth connection problems mostly solved, and the handling of multiple blutooth adapters is configurable.



    so i am no hardware specialist.

            Missing snmpget and snmpwalk

I tried to install it with: apt-get install net-snmp-utils but I have error message: Unable to locate package.             How to enroll fingerprints to Ubuntu 17.10 with VFS491

Well, my actual device is an HP Probook 4540s with a Validity fingerprint sensor (VFS491). The fingerprint sensor worked fine on Windows but I can't get it to work in Ubuntu. The device is recognized as 138a:003d but is not detected as a fingerprint scanner by some apps like Fingerprint GUI. I want to use the fingerprint scanner to log in into my user account in Ubuntu but it doesn't supports fingerprints without special software and the drivers of the fingerprint scanner are available for Windows but not for any Linux distribution.
