The application closes (core dumps) when scanner starts to scan after I click the scan button. Brother MFC L2750DW connected via USB, simplescan is latest version.
simple-scan is already the newest version (3.20.0-0ubuntu1).

3 things to check on:

1) http://support.brother.com/g/s/id/linux/en/faq_scn.html?c=us_ot&lang=en&redirect=on#f00107 check libusb-0.1-4 is installed .. even if networked! Install with sudo apt install libusb-0.1-4

2) http://support.brother.com/g/s/id/linux/en/faq_scn.html?c=us_ot&lang=en&redirect=on#f00101 Copy the specified files under /usr/lib64/ to /usr/lib/. Hint: your device is brscan4

so

sudo sudo cp /usr/lib64/sane/libsane-brother4.so.1.0.7 /usr/lib/sane

sudo cp /usr/lib64/sane/libsane-brother4.so /usr/lib/sane
