Ive got a UBUNTU Server running on a machine that I am trying to remote to over a VPN from my Windows machine, Ive been following various guides on installing XRDP. I can RDP to sesman-Xvnc but when i enter my credentials, it attempts to login but gives the "Error-problem connecting" after the "sending encryption" part.

I am not sure what the issue may be, the reason i am using XRDP is because the GUI desktop doesn't seem to work for me in UBUNTU Server even after installing different versions.
Any ideas guys,
Thank you

  • Were you trying to install a GUI on top of Ubuntu Server? The server version does not have a GUI, everything is operated from the command line usually.

  • Hi Arronical, yes I was trying to do that. I was able to select whatever version of the desktop using "tasksel". I followed a guide that allows for RDP from Windows to Ubuntu server using XRDP.

  • I would guess that you are facing some configuration issue with xrdp, rather then some issue with the vpn or windows. Have you tried to connect without the vpn?
