Since the beginning of the installation of Ubuntu 16.04 in my laptop (Asus X405U), I had no wifi visible. I've tried several things found here but I still have no wifi.

rfkill list shows just the bluetooth, but no wireless.

I installed MT7630E-release and it didn't worked. And intalled bcmwl-kernel-source and didn't change anything either.

Also, I have no Additional Drivers apart from one with name "Unknown" that has "Using Processor microcode firmware for Intel CPUs from intel-microcode (open source)" selected.

This is my wireless-info.txt:

  • There is no need to install Mediatek or Broadcom drivers. You have a Realtek chip. I am not sure there is a Linux driver for this specific chip.

  • Hello again. Wifi worked fine until some minutes later. I was trying to install Dropbox but then the wifi just disconnected and remained as "disconnected", also it said "device not ready" after some time. I rebooted and it worked, but then the same happened. Do you something about this? Thank you.

  • There is no need to install Mediatek or Broadcom drivers. You have a Realtek chip. I am not sure there is a Linux driver for this specific chip.

  • That worked instantly. Thanks!

  • Hello again. Wifi worked fine until some minutes later. I was trying to install Dropbox but then the wifi just disconnected and remained as "disconnected", also it said "device not ready" after some time. I rebooted and it worked, but then the same happened. Do you something about this? Thank you.

Since the beginning of the installation of Ubuntu 16.04 in my laptop (Asus X405U), I had no wifi visible. I've tried several things found here but I still have no wifi.

rfkill list shows just the bluetooth, but no wireless.

I installed MT7630E-release and it didn't worked. And intalled bcmwl-kernel-source and didn't change anything either.

Also, I have no Additional Drivers apart from one with name "Unknown" that has "Using Processor microcode firmware for Intel CPUs from intel-microcode (open source)" selected.

Thank you.
