I just successfully (I think) installed Ubuntu 16.04.3 over a MacBook 4, 1. Everything went well. I wasn't prompted for wireless access during the install, which I thought was supposed to happen, but other than that, fine. I was able to connect to my wireless network, and it says the connection is good. I am unable to reach the internet. I know that the connection is good for other computers on the network. I did note that when I look at the Active Network Connections, it indicates that there's an IPv6 address, but nothing but IPv4. Can anybody steer me in the right direction?

Thanks,

  • Update: I checked again this morning to look more closely at the network connection, and now it says that I'm not connected. It seems to 'try', but won't connect. Not sure if this is on my install, or if it's related to my xfiniity router.

  • Update: I am able to connect to xfinity hotspot with no issues, so the wireless appears functional, but not log into my protected network. Hmmm.

  • Update: I'm able to establish a wired connection with no issues.

  • Update: So in summary, it appears that my computer works wired. It works wirelessly on an unsecured network, but it has problems connecting to networks that require a login. It does not reject the password, so I know that it's getting it. I was going to work on the WAP, but that can't be it, because I won't be able to do that on other networks. So there is some issue with configuring the connection to be able to accept an encrypted connection. Any thoughts? I really would appreciate the help.
