Ubuntu won't boot. /sbin/init permission denied and not found

run-init: /sbin/init: Permission denied
Target filesystem doesn't have requested /sbin/init.
run-init: /sbin/init: Permission denied
run-init: /etc/init: Permission denied
run-init: /bin/init: No such file or directory
/bin/sh: 0: Can't open splash
I get this error when attempting to load my server, I have been trying different things like this tutorial. But nothing seems to be working.
Any ideas?
I use a Ubuntu 14.04 VPS and use Finnix to recover files.
