How to get rid of the desktop modifications and go back to default Ubuntu

I had the original default desktop when I installed Ubuntu 17.10. However, by playing around and not knowing what I was doing, I have something way different and I do not know how to go about going back to the default desktop.
I went to https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2017/10/how-to-reset-ubuntu-desktop-to-default and followed the instructions precisely and nothing changed.
I just want to start over and take the time to learn things properly. I was under the impression that all I need to do is to switch back somehow to the other desktop?

Whatever the reason, using one command you can: i got this at omgubuntu.uk Reset Ubuntu Unity desktop to default settings Reset GNOME desktop to default settings Reset MATE desktop to default settings â¦all at the the same time. The command to run with caution is this: dconf reset -f /

So you mean this article? omgubuntu.co.uk/2017/10/how-to-reset-ubuntu-desktop-to-default (You should really copy and paste the link yourself, so we havenâÂÂt to google for it and guess.) It tells about resetting desktop to default settings which is much different from getting rid of it. What do you really want to achieve? Please edit your question and put all details into it. BTW if you are not sure what you did and want to get the whole OS back to default, the easiest way is to reinstall it.

Thank you for the edit, itâÂÂs much clearer now but maybe duplicate to askubuntu.com/questions/859448/â¦.
