KDE Connect blocking notifications

I have KDE Connect installed in both my Ubuntu 16.04 setup and android 5.1 device.
The funny thing is that when KDE Connect is disabled, I can receive desktop notifications alright. Once I enable KDE Connect, the notifications don't show anymore though they are logged by the 'recent-notifications' indicator.
Using notify-send
with a critical flag also works on both situations.
This does't work when KDE Connect is enabled but works when it is disabled:
notify-send "Hello" "Hello World"
This works whether KDE Connect is enabled or disabled:
notify-send "Hello" "Hello World" --urgency=critical
All notifications are logged by Recent Notifications even the ones that don't show.
16.04 kde notification notify-send kde-connect
