This problem did not exist for a couple of months after installation. Every time the computer wakes from suspend it slows down significantly. By slowing down, I mean that the responses to key clicks etc, can take upto a minute to appear on screen. A trick to bring back the computer to its normal state is to shift to a virtual console Ctrl + Alt + F1-F6 and then shift back to the desktop (Ctrl + Alt + F7), although this may take several minutes to happen.

Sometimes, it is so slow that it completely freezes and I have to force shutdown.

Machine specifications:
1. Dell Latitude 3480
2. RAM: 8GB
3. CPU: Intel Core i7-7500U CPU @ 2.70GHz × 4
4. Operating System: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 64-bit
