Mouse y keyboard (usb) disconnect while ethernet cable is conected

I am new to Ubuntu, here's my problem:
I have a old computer (Pentium 4) and I decided install Ubuntu 14.04. Everything was working normal then when I plugged in the Ethernet cable and my usb mouse and keyboard got freeze and back to normally several times. Some steps to follow?
