This question already has an answer here:
How do I find out which version and derivative of Ubuntu is right for my hardware in terms of minimal system requirements?
8 answers
Will my device work with Ubuntu?
1 answer
Ok, so I have a low-end laptop with these specs.
RAM- 4gb
CPU- AMD A6-5200 APU
The reason I'm asking is that I've been using linux at school, and I enjoy using it, but I don't know if it will run smoothly on the laptop that I have. If anyone is able to tell me which would run more efficiently, please let me know why.

Both Windows and Ubuntu require 2GB of memory for a 64-bit installation, and Windows needs a generic 1GHz processor while Ubuntu's requirements lists a 2GHz dual-core CPU. YMMV, so why not try both and see how they perform? Your laptop meets the specifications for both.

I think your question leaves out the disk type. I have run into things in general where windows is quite painful to use based on say the speed of input output.

Although I voted along with Byte's duplicate candidate, I was tempted to vote to close as "Opinion Based".
