I turned my laptop on and it randomly displayed the message:

(initramfs) Unable to find a medium containing a live file system.

I am using the same Ubuntu operating system that came with the laptop and have not tried to install anything new or change any settings so I don't know why it's displaying this message or how to solve it.

I am not using a USB, this was the original operating system provided on my laptop. My laptop is a Dell inspiron. I've looked at other similar posts but they all seem to be using USB's or CD's to try and install/change something whereas I've literally just turned it on as normal and it's not working.

All of my university work is on there so please help !

  • Not the same as that question related to a USB, I am using the normal system on my laptop and haven't tried to install/change anything
