I have a box running Linux and a Raspberry Pi and want to share files using samba. It works perfectly when the Raspberry Pi is connected to my PC with an ethernet cable but I am having problems when it is connected to my router via wifi.
My router setup is unusual. I live in rural Western Australia and rely on mobile broadband so I have an Android tablet which is connected to the PC via USB. The PC is then connected via ethernet to the router WAN port and the connection is configured as "Share with other computers". This works fine for internet connection by the Raspberry PI and my other devices but does not allow them to join the network.
My router has a USB connection but it is for storage only and does not allow me to connect a modem etc via the USB. I know I could just buy a new router and would appreciate suggestions for the best one to use but I would prefer to try other options first. I could configure the router as a repeater but I doubt if that would work.
Surely I am not unique??? Can anyone help?
