Which encryptor is more reliable for security, and safe for files inside

i need to know which encryptor is better, before i used
zip -encrypt
But it so much time make corrupt archives, if size in him more then 1GB.
I know
zip, openssl
And i think do not know something more, if some one know something better methods above, something with good to protect, i mean password, and loyalty to content inside, please say it.
