I have recently installed Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (with all updates installed) on my Fujitsu Celcius H730 laptop.

Currently I'm running into an issue very similar to this one on Launchpad. The touchpad (and mouse buttons) don't respond to any input unless I am also holding down the middle-mouse button.

I have seen suggestions to install xserver-xorg-input-libinput from here, although that hasn't fixed the issue either.

It also appears there is a workaround by running this command:

sudo modprobe -r psmouse && sudo modprobe psmouse proto=imps

but I understand that disables certain features I'd like to make use of (two finger scrolling, for example).

Is there a proper fix for this issue?
