My situation is the following.

I got a new laptop, with nvidia video card which is not supported by the 16.04 LTS, so each time I install ubuntu, I have to set nouveau.modeset=0 kernel parameter in order to run X.

Once I do that, X runs correctly, I add the graphics drivers ppa and install the latest NVIDIA drivers and all works fine.

In order to avoid this situation, is there a way to force the installation process to use the PPA, and install the latest drivers?

  • Not exactly what I was looking for, but the customizer tool can be used to create a custom iso. github.com/kamilion/customizer
