After installing Ubuntu 16.04 LTS on my workstation Dell Precision m6800, when I shut down or reboot my device, on a blank page I see this message:

Unknown controller version (?). You may experience problems.

And the OS was very unstable; for instance, on login page, the background was shown with bright dots on that, and in terminal it seems that when I open terminal, a process is running, and more...

I have to give more info:

  • I tried a SD memory card and it was recognized and I could see its contents.

  • Before that I tried CentOS 7 1708 and I got same message on booting up to the CentOS.

    • I am naive on computer science and my aim is to use linux for biological simulations, so I will be so grateful if you answer this in simplest way.

    • My workstation config:

    • CPU Intel Core i7, 4930MX

    • Graphic card: NVIDIA Quadro k4100

    • Two hard drives: 1 HDD Seagate, 1 Samsung SSD

    • Realtek ALC32xx Series HD Audio Codec Driver

    • There is a SD card reader (sdhci-pci) attached to motherboard

I saw a command on internet which is probably useful here to report its results:
