When I open now my Ubuntu 16.04 with my username the desktop has no icons at the Left edge, no icons at all. When I open with a host user there are no icons. The only file I can see on the desktop is a PDF file. What to do?
Finally I opened the terminal and did type sudo apt update,. uprade. The result is that the last Ubuntu 16.04 is updated, all i right but nothing is repaired. I tried also to open th PC with secure method. Nothing helped.
Possible causes of the bug:
- Several times I shuted down with the on/off button because the standard way didn't finish.
- Recently updates
- I was on Ubuntu 17.04 and I tried to start with previous version.
With terminal I had checked that 16.04 is up to date.

In fine, the only solution I was able to reach was to install newly from a CD Ubuntu.
