Q: Failing to boot Ubuntu after using boot-repair

Unfortunately, I am a total noob when it comes to Linux so I cannot describe my problem using advanced technological lingo. I hope the pastebin link from boot-repair will suffice to atleast figure out what my exact problem is: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/DByggysKQr/
I installed Ubuntu 16.04 LTS on my Lenovo 100S laptop about 5 months ago (my first experience with Linux) and used it atleast once a week since then. Whenever an update notification popped up, I didn't always update the system immediately but did so later nonetheless.
The latest update at the time (unfortunately I cannot recall what update exactly) seems to have broken my booting process. I cannot boot into Ubuntu. All I get is a black screen and the system attempting to reboot about every 5 minutes.
I tried reinstalling Ubuntu from the same install USB I initially made, which did not help, so I decided to run boot-repair on it. I installed it through a live Ubuntu-session ("Try Ubuntu without installing") and ran it using recommended repair. I restarted the PC and, unfortunately, was met with the same results.
Since then, I tried installing a different Linux distro, Zorin OS 12.2, which also did not help. Last thing I did is meddling in the Advanced Options of boot-repair and ended up purging my GRUB before reinstalling it. Same outcome. (I hope doing that was not even more harmful.)
In case you require any further details or information on my PC, please do ask for clarifications and please bare with me in case I don't immediately understand the tech terms and practices.
