The latest kernel Ubuntu 14.04 64bit 3.13.0-143-generic won't let vmware workstation player 12.5.9 start.
This is caused by vmmon, vmnet modules are not loaded seemingly due to 'secure boot' prevents unsigned modules from loading.
My PC has older CPU(C2D) and BIOS does not have UEFI, so I think Secure boot is disabled by default on this machine.
I searched in dmesg for 'Secure boot' words and confirmed none.h
Vmware workstation player works just fine on the previous kernel.
Has anyone run into the same problem?
14.04 kernel secure-boot vmware-player
