I'm attempting to install PlayOnLinux, and every time I do, I get the error:

Software can't be installed or removed because the authentication service is not available. (org.freedesktop.PolicyKit.Erroe.Failed: ('system-bus-name', 'name': ':1.54'): org.debian.apt.install-or-remove-packages

I looked up the problem and tried the solutions offered. Ubuntu is updated completely, PolicyKit Authentication Agent is on auto start, I've tried reinstalling Ubuntu. Nothing seems to be working. What am I doing wrong, and how can I fix this?

Please note I am kinda slow, not do I have a grand time trying to understand things - I very well could have made the mistake along the way, and any help would be appreciated.

  • Welcome to Ask Ubuntu! Could you please add a little more detail? What's your Ubuntu release? How exactly did you try to install PoL. Please edit your post to add information instead of posting a comment. (see How do I ask a good question?)
