Errno 6 No such device or address: '/dev/sda2'

I am trying to install Ubuntu 18.04 on a HP ProLiant DL360 G7. At present the machine is running 16.04 LTS I am trying to do a clean install on this machine. I use the machine as a lab machine for testing various OSs and Applications using VMWare. But I keep getting the error message right after the installer tries to partition the hard drive.
[Errno 6] No such device or address: '/dev/sda2'
