I am trying to share a connection through an laptop because the stationary computer has lost connection to wifi, defect wifi dongle I'd suppose. I have an ethernet cable between the machines. The Laptop are configured with ifconfig to be 10.0.1.1/255.255.255.0 and the stationary to be 10.0.1.2. The Laptop has a working wifi which connects to the internet 10.0.0.0/24 somewhere, the router beongs to our landlord 10.0.0.138 . The laptop has ip forwarding enabled with sysctl -w net.ipv4.ip_forward=1. The machines can ping each other. Pinging 10.0.0.138 from the stationary fails, I'd forgot the message, sorry. Both machines are running Ubuntu 14.04.

If anyone could get me on track of what's wrong, I'd would be very grateful.
