I've tried several different times to install various different downloads of Ubuntu on Virtualbox on my W10 system. They either seem to install but continually ask for my log-in password, or they refuse to install saying I've got the wrong ISO file. The versions I've tried have all been those recommended on various message boards and help sites, and also on the Oracle an Ubuntu sites that I can find. Any help pointing me in the right direction would be much appreciated.
By the way, I installed Windows XP on (in?) Virtualbox without a single problem.
Cheers

  • Which versions have you tried that didn't work? What error messages did you get exactly? In my experience 16.04(.x) works flawlessly. 17.10 is quite unstable, but installs and I'm able to log in.

  • I got sick of trying, and sick of trying to log in to stack exchange, so thanks for responding but I am not going to bother with Ubuntu, Stack Exchange or virtualbox any more
