I need to install ubuntu 17.10 desktop environment on ubuntu 16.04. Is there a way to do that ?

    Ubuntu 17.10 standard DEsktop is gnome; on 16.04 LTS you can use the GNOME desktop, or install Ubuntu-GNOME 16.04 LTS too. Then you can add the dash-to-dock extension that gives the 'feel' you may also mean. It will however be a older version of gnome; if you need the later version of gnome, you'll also need later libs (gtk+, glib..) and its easier to just use 17.10 as you'll have all 17.10 pretty much except for kernel. If its the desktop you want, sudo apt install ubuntu-gnome-desktop
