I'm trying to install the webcam software but keep getting error messages.
Heres the error:

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree

Reading state information... Done
motion is already the newest version (4.1.1-1).
You might want to run 'apt --fix-broken install' to correct these.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
motion : Depends: libavcodec57 (>= 7:3.2.4) but it is not installable or
libavcodec-extra57 (>= 7:3.2.4) but it is not installable
Depends: libavdevice57 (>= 7:3.2.4) but it is not installable
Depends: libavformat57 (>= 7:3.2.4) but it is not installable
Depends: libavutil55 (>= 7:3.2.4) but it is not installable
Depends: libmysqlclient20 (>= 5.7.11) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libpq5 but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libswscale4 (>= 7:3.2.4) but it is not installable
Recommends: ffmpeg but it is not installable
steam-launcher : Depends: python-apt but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt --fix-broken install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

  • Ubuntu 17.04 is end of life since 13 januari 2018. It is no longer supported. This is why the install failes. You should upgrade to 17.10.
