I have a MacbookPro 10,1 that I am trying to install Ubuntu 16.04 onto. I have a bootable drive and when I boot from it I get the standard "try ubuntu" or "install ubuntu" screen. When just selecting either of these options, I get a black screen.

I turned to the internet and tried editing the GRUB boot options to nomodeset, which gave me some outputs and then stopped on a black screen with a single cursor on the top left corner. None of the keys are responsive. Then I tried quiet splash nomodeset, which gave me some different outputs and a brief appearance of the purple ubuntu loading screen before the error no UMS support for Radeon Module. I've also tried quiet radeon.modeset=0 and quiet radeon.dpm, both of which don't work either.

I know this question has been asked a million times before but I have scoured every forum and tried everything. I have no idea what to try beyond this.
