Similar to this, I want to create a log-type file that adds the current date and time each time the file is opened using any text editor. In windows, using notepad, it can be done by just adding .LOG at the first line. Is there any equivalent in Ubuntu?

  • In windows, it seems to work only with notepad. Don't ask linux to do it with any editor. Just look how to do it in one editor manually, then try to automate this. This will not work with other editors obviously as each one as it own way to do it, if they can do it.
