Correct way to resize /run via fstab

I'm trying to overcome the default amount of ram that is given to tmpfs /run
I'm using
tmpfs /run tmpfs defaults,nosuid,nodev,size=512M 0 0
While this does set the size. It basically kills my system. Certain scripts stop running correctly. I suspect its either something I'm setting or missing
defaults,nosuid,nodev
and it might have something to do with PID or permissions? IDK
