For some reason I can't seem to get Virtual Machine Manager clients to show 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution (on my new Ubuntu 18.04 LTS VMM.) I have tried with both Virtio and QXL with no luck. My Kubuntu client shows 4096x2160 option but not 3840x2160.

Any ideas how to show 4K resolution on both 16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratio?

  • Seems this is too difficult so I solved all my Virtualization problems by installing VirtualBox. I now enjoy full 4K resolution and sound without stuttering on multiple VM's at the same time. My only gripe is the .vdi disk format.
