How to save the configuration of pavucontrol in Ubuntu 16.04?

There is probably a bug in the package alsa-mixer for Xenial, because when I try to save the audio configuration with alsactl, the recording level of the internal audio is not saved (but the rest of the controls like, e.g. the recording level of the mic, are stored and later restored successfully from a file).
So I would like to try to save my audio levels by using pavucontrol, which surely has some configuration file that can be restored later.
How can I do that?
