The problem has just occurred when I experienced a lockup and had to do a hard reset of computer. When I re-booted all the desktop icons were re-arranged. When I move them to my desired positions, powered down, then rebooted the positions on the desktop are not saved and icons move back to position after crash. In addition some icons have lost their icon image and I am unable to set the icon image now in properties. Some thing has got corrupted.
Note the above is only since the lockup and re-boot, all was working normally prior, and had been for 18 months prior. I have tried everything I can think of.
I have 2 monitors connected but that has not caused an issue in the past.
help appreciated.
