18.04 - cursor drifts after I stop moving my finger on a Thinkpad X1C

Just installed Ubuntu 18.04 on a new laptop (Thinkpad X1C Gen 5), most stuff is working great, but the touchpad is a little frustrating.

When I move the cursor, then stop moving my finger, the cursor keeps moving a little, like it is decelerating.

This behavior makes it hard to be precise with the touchpad. I'm thinking this is something to do with the move to libinput in 18.04?

The cursor does not keep moving if I lift my finger up from the touchpad at the end of a movement, but that is not a practical way to work!

Does anyone know of a libinput setting I could use to change this behavior?

  • I'd recommend to test latest libinput, and if it's not working, report a bug. See this for info on how to fill the report.
