How can I achieve a “Redmond” style layout with GNOME 3 / Ubuntu 18.04?

All I can seem to find is this script that does a full-blown skin:

https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2017/05/gnome-layout-manager-unity-look

Which is over the top, for me. I'm just looking for a similar layout with everything across the bottom of the screen, for space's sake.

Ubuntu MATE has this in the form of the Redmond layout and I'm wondering what the GNOME 3 method / equivalent is.

Thank you in advance.

  • Could you edit your question and explain what do mean by "Redmond" style layout? Exactly what change(s) are you looking for? If you just want to move the top-bar to bottom, see this: askubuntu.com/questions/132786/…
