Add-on migration in progress - please wait

I have just installed Ubuntu 17.10 onto my machine and now after login I get a large blue Q with a red spot and the message Add-on migration in progress - please wait.... and I wait and I wait and nothing happens. I have tried numerous things but can not seem to avoid this screen. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

This sounds a lot like a Kodi issue. Do you have Kodi installed?
