xterm not working in mininet 2.2.2

I'm using mininet version 2.2.2 . I'm unable to run xterm command on mininet. I'm not getting any output after running the xterm command.
ubuntu version is 18.04 and vmware workstation version is 12.
I've already spent over a day on this. but still no success.
