Linux shared code directory

I have a further question on this. If I have a number of users with their own /home/user directories; but they all need to run code from a directory, can I set up a shared code directory or do I have /home/userx/code and make that shared by all users? I do not want to have a code dir for each user and have to maintain multiple copies of code.
