Battery is fully charged, however upower manually reading value from /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/status shows wrong information:

 upower -i /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_BAT0
native-path: BAT0
vendor: ASUSTeK
model: ASUS Battery
power supply: yes
updated: Friday 11 May 2018 06:06:17 PM IST (53 seconds ago)
has history: yes
has statistics: yes
battery
present: yes
rechargeable: yes
state: discharging
warning-level: none
energy: 32.52 Wh
energy-empty: 0 Wh
energy-full: 33.371 Wh
energy-full-design: 38 Wh
energy-rate: 4.552 W
voltage: 7.6 V
time to empty: 7.1 hours
percentage: 99%
capacity: 86.6579%
technology: lithium-ion
icon-name: 'battery-full-symbolic'
History (charge):
1526042177 99.000 discharging
History (rate):
1526042177 4.552 discharging

and

cat /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/status
Discharging

I see this as a problem as my battery capacity has decreased to 86% in 1.5 years. Could this be a reason or is this normal?

It is a common assumption that modern laptops stop using battery on AC (when it's fully charged) and just use power from AC. How isn't my laptop doing this?
