I've got dual boot Ubuntu 16.04 LTS installed on my computer alongside Windows 10. I saw that it is possible now to upgrade Ubuntu to 18.04 and I am following these steps: https://linuxconfig.org/how-to-upgrade-to-ubuntu-18-04-lts-bionic-beaver. As the normal upgrade is still not possible, I tried the force direct upgrade by using the sudo do-release-upgrade -d. My question is would this upgrade affect my Windows 10 version, or is it completely safe to upgrade Ubuntu without any impact on Windows?

Nothing is "completely safe". While the Ubuntu release-upgrade tool has been tested on many, many systems, it has not been tested on yours. We have no idea what unusual changes you have made to your system, and cannot predict your specific outcome. Always be prepared for the worst before starting a release-upgrade, and fully backup your data on both OS before starting.
